Is it right for a divorced Christian to remarry? The Bible clarifies that God hates divorce and views the marriage vows as a sacred covenant. However, there are certain circumstances in which divorce is not a sin. I believe that there are valid biblical grounds for divorce and that divorced Christians who are not innocent partners- adulterers, traitors, and abusers- can lawfully remarry with God’s blessing. Weal most take it for granted. I thought that’s what it was about. I thought that was no problem.
The arguments against remarriage seem clear, simple, and irrefutable. Jesus said that anyone who divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery (Matthew 5:32, 19:9, Mark 10 :11, Luke 16) :18). And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she has committed adultery (Mark 10:12).
Divorce and Remarriage Remarriage is only permitted to faithful partners and only if the divorce is on a Biblical basis.
.. Whether a Christian who has divorced his partner on a Biblical basis can remarry is a Biblical issue. His spiritual status has not changed in the eyes of the Lord or the church. Jesus gives permission to remarry in cases of adultery.
